The main activities of Anatolia Foundation were based in the Kars Province of Northeastern Turkey between 2006-2012. They were well received by the locals and also publicized internationally for the revival of the endangered ancient grain Emmer (Triticum dicoccum).

                                                                          WHERE IS KARS?

Kars Province is located at the mountainous Northeast region of Turkey, bordering Armenia.

WHY KARS?

The Kars Province contains key biodiversity areas. The flora and fauna are seriously endangered mainly due to intensive animal grazing, the use of agricultural pesticides, and the loss of centuries old traditions as the population shifts from rural to urban areas.
